Secret Army and 'Allo Allo'

I am watching re-runs of the Secret Army and keep being told that some of the actors also appeared in "Allo Allo" but cannot find any. Do you know of any?

p.s. I have noticed a lot of actors who were in their early days, including Brian Glover as a German Corporal.

Guy Siner, who played the camp Major with his little tank, appeared briefly in the episode where the Germans have devised a bogus escape-line. Siner is one of the German agents eavesdropping on the RAF chaps, who think they have met a genuine escape-line.

He's the only one I have spotted.

Ken Stott, of Rebus, Messiah, etc, is credited in an early episode, but I didn't spot him.

The Glover episode was interesting, in that it showed a German occupier in such a sympathetic way.

In addition to Guy Sinner, Hilary Minster appears as Reinhardts' assistant in the third series and Richard Marner was a Russian translator. John D. Collins played the Belgian police inspector friendly to Life Line and also played the role of one of the British airmen in Allo Allo.

I've only seen bits and pieces of Secret Army, but after watching just those little bits Allo Allo is even funnier.

My husband is hooked on "Secret Army". I just find it boring, all talk and no action.
"Allo Allo" on the other hand is really funny, I love it.

I have to say that I understand your husband, I'm hooked on it too!

"Secret Army" is probably one of the finest drama series ever created by the BBC. (Unfortunately I can't say the same about the sequel "Kassler").

You can't have seen a lot of Secret Army to say that is has no action. There is action in almost every episode. But I guess we define "action" differently.

"Secret Army" is not a comedy, but there are funny moments along the way (especially between the german officers, who generally dislikes eachother), whereas "Allo Allo" is strictly comedy. I love it too. It's such a loving parodi of the original story.

you must be american.
the essence of an organisition like lifeline, is to act normal.
to keep a low profile, otherwise the enemy gets supicious. lifeline is about bringing english airpeople back to england, mostly via Spain. Its not the same as the resistance, that is said in the series more than 1 time.

and if there was no "secret Army", there would not be allo allo. Because allo allo is based on it.

Both are very good series, I have them both completely on dvd. One is a comedy, the other one is deadly serious, based on trues events .

I can't understand anyone saying that there is "no action" in S Army. Most episodes involve the escape of an airman, the attempts of the Germans to capture airmen, and to infiltrate Lifeline, and in the third series there are several about the Lifeline people getting involved with partisans and British soldiers who are hitting back at the Occupying forces....
However Allo Allo is a comedy... nad while its funny, I feel that it makes fun of S Army so I dont really like it much because SA is a very good popular drama series and a tribute to the Allied forces and those who helped them in the war...

but since SA is not a comedy, but a drama series, there is no real comparison between them anyway...

And the amount of deaths is pretty heartbreaking.
