a classic of its kind, deep and complicated, not just BANG BANG.
I am watching this old series (1977-1980?) on dvd.
I watched most of it as a teenager but having spent 40 years reading about World War 2 and European history I now see the riches of detail that I missed back in the day.
The moral choices made are well shown.
The story involves a Belgian group who organise the escape to Britain of downed allied airmen.
But the heroes are not flawless, they make money from running a bar/restaurant and a lot of their customers are Belgian fascists or Gestapo the very people hunting the escape line and its customers.
Sometimes the business gets in the way of running the escape line.
The level of research, the care in getting it to look right is amazing, the smallest parts are well played and written.
There are a lot of episodes but there are few weak ones.
So if you like war stories then check this out.
