theories on Early Years DVD featuring mostly season 3 episodes

I have read that The Best of the Early Years DVD features mostly episodes from the third season, with only a handful of second season episodes, and no episodes from the first season. This is weird, but I have a theory on why this happened.

Shout! had originally planned on releasing the entire third season as volume 5, but fo course that changed to a "best of" set. Shout! probably already got all legal music clearances for the third season (or, perhaps more accurately, all third season music cleared that they could get cleared). It makes sense, then, for Shout! to not want to go through the trouble of getting more music rights cleared if the company had spent the time and money on music clearances for season 3 epsiodes, and probably only decided to clear the music rights for a small handful of second season epsiodes to make it "The Best of the Early Years", instead of "The Best of Season 3".

What o you think?

I think that they got the episodes they could only get cleared. And also they did'nt want to put out a complete seaason since the season 5 set did not do so well in sales. I'm really dissapointed cause season 3 was my favorite season out of the whole series and it had one of SCTV's rarest wraparound sketches The Cisco Kid.

I wonder if there are any considerations for the seeason 6 episodes to be released. If Shout! was still releasing these sets in order (well, order based on seasons, as the actual episode order obviously hasn't been released), I wonder if all of season 6 would have been released on one set, or if it would have been broken up into smaller sets.

Man I hope they don't do make season 6 into bits and peices either. It's bad enough they did that with 2 and my favorite season out of the series 3. Season 6 was SCTV final season, and they went out pretty well with that one. It was way better than almost lackluster but still decent season 5(which won an emmy).
