The book

I watched this mini series when it originally aired. I recently bought the DVDs and have watched it probably 4 more times. I finally got the book and read it for the first time. It's almost like two different stories! Yes, I know movies are rarely the same (just about every Stephen King adaption ever!) but I sure didn't expect so many differences! And yes, I understand that the novel is not a 100% true story.

I don't think this will diminish my enjoyment of the movie, and I'm already planning on re-reading the novel. Was anyone else disappointed by the major plot changes? I was actually surprised that the novel was so much less confrontational in a lot of places, not to mention how many completely fabricated scenes were added. Or am I just being too picky again?
