A mini series. Everyone in school was talking about "Roots." It was a big, big deal no matter what color you were.

It was first shown as a docu-drama. Alex Haley tried to pass this off as a true account of how his ancestors were treated during slavery. It was all a LIE! Haley stole this story from a white man that wrote it as a work of fiction!
Blacks have been angry at whites every since Roots first aired. Unaware that this entire time, it was all a lie...

Seriously? Race relations between between black and white people were fcked up due to slavery,which is what ROOTS was about, and slavery was going on for most of our country's history. I don't know where you got the stupid idea that ROOTS was responsible for that. You need to read up on some more American history,then. I mean, what planet are you from? Do you really believe the idiocy and flat-out ignorance you just wrote? Apparently you do, because you wrote it, and you sound like you didn't learn a damn thing about slavery or American history in school, either. This is one of the most stupid posts I've ever read, and I've read some incredibly stupid ones.
And yeah, anybody who anything about the original ROOTS knows all about the Alex Haley plagarism suit.
Go to Wikipedia and read about it. I remember when this author of the novel claimed it was his ancestry but it was actually ripped off from another novel. It was actually settled in court.
Also another historian has punched holes in the entire European slave hunter thing. Africans were mostly sold by other Africans during tribal warfare.
It is great television but that is what it is? Believe what you want but this is about as realistic as Oliver Stones JFK
