Nudity in the book
In the book it mentioned the slaves were naked in the ship and that when they were sold were also naked. This seemed like another way to demean them.
shareIt would be demeaning to people accustomed to wearing head-to-toe clothes, but if your custom is to be scantily clad it would be normal to be naked or partially naked. Have you ever seen any National Geographic documentaries showing life in native villages in hot places? Most are naked or nearly so.
