Kizzy's aging

Why did they age Kizzy so much when Chicken George was 18.I mean she had him around 16 or 17 so she had to be her 30s.But they had her looking 60.

Yes i agree they aged Kizzy to much.The same for missy anne as when they met again years later when kizzy spat in missy annes water it was around 1847 .Kizzy was only supposed to be around age 57 but she looked as if in her 70s the same said for missy anne.Prehaps the aging represented a harsh life.

Everyone aged quicker back then even the wealthy.

I'm reading the book now. (Haven't watched the miniseries in years, but plan to when I finish the book). Remember that Kizzy (at least in the book) was a field slave after being sold from the Reynolds plantation. A life of constant work in the blazing hot fields of North Carolina undoubtedly aged you fast.
