Didn't Haley originally present this as the story of his ancestors?

So it turns out that not only was that not true, but Haley stole this from a novel written by a white author. So this whole thing is basically a bunch of total BS?

This story is very true. In fact it was the white man in the 1600s who created the entire concept of slavery by sailing across the ocean and stealing Africans, taking them back to America
