If The Sweeney film is a success...

...then they should remake The Professionals. If they get Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Liam Neeson for Doyle, Bodie and Cowley respectively then it would pretty fvcking awesome. Or maybe even get Idris Elba to play Doyle simply because of his portrayal in Luther.

I'm not usually a fan of remakes but I think if The Sweeney ends up being a success then the next logical step would be to remake the The Professionals. Especially if you have actors like Bale, Hardy and Neeson as the three leads then people would watch it. The only problem is getting those actors to star because they'd all be focusing on their Hollywood careers.

After the first Sweeney film was made in the '70s, they should've done a Professionals film around 1979 or 1980, with the original cast.

It would've been a hit!

Nope! Remakes are not a good idea these days.

There is talk they are looking at making a film, according to the article in the Daily Mirror this is the cast ideas been bounced around:-

Names mentioned to play Bodie include Bond’s Daniel Craig, 45, Transporter star Jason Statham, 45, Inception hunk Tom Hardy, 35, and even Tom Cruise, 51.

Former Doctor Who David Tennant, 42, The Wire’s Dominic West, 43, Bond’s new Q Ben Whishaw, 32, and Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch, 37, are on the wish list to play Doyle.

I like some of the suggestions but I think Cumberbatch, Whishaw, Tennant and Cruise are not suited to the characters. My ideas to chuck in the mix would be the following:-

Bodie - Gary Daniels http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0199939/
Doyle - Scott Adkins http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0012078/?ref_=sr_2
Cowley - James Cosmo http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0181920/?ref_=sr_6
