Was everyone podgy in those days - or is it an optical illusion?

When I watch these old series on youtube, I am surprised by how podgy everyone seems around the midriff. Even - or especially - Ray Doyle, to take an example.

Were people so podgy in those days - or has this got something to do with different film formats compressing the picture and making people look wider in the middle?

Lol. Yeah...and don't get me started on all the male hair loss and dodgy toupes.

"I KNOW, RIGHT!? Ahhaha...WOO!" <- This terrible writing is why Green Lantern failed.

Well LOL!! That's generalizing a tad. But there's one episode where the boys are sent for retraining. The instructor throws them around and then says; "Flabby! Very flabby!

More people smoked back then. Fry ups for breakfast were common. Fast food restaurants started to get big back then too and people didn't really think much about doing exercise until the green goddess (Diana Moran) starting doing an exercise spot on breakfast TV in the early 80s.

Are you on acid?

More people than ever are morbidly obese TODAY! Fast food, laziness in general (starting with lack of PE at schools) and kids playing PC games.
