Poldark DVD's

janus_sonja
I purchased this series both one and two, from the ABC bookshop in Australia. They cost $50.95 AUS. each. Disc one runs 800 minutes and disc two runs 650 minutes.

But they have been altered as some of the scenes I remember seeing , when it was on TV are missing.

There has been much discussion of the Poldark site about this, it is a very informative site if you are interested.

There was also a discussion on the missing scenes, blue dress....the water pump read on you will see them.

No pump scene in my DVD's or no blue dress either.(The seduction scene)

neither are there any extras.

I think they replaced the seduction scene with a new one it's in there but not the one I remembered, and there is no water-pump scene, where Ross washes the dirt of and finds it's a girl.Other than that I think it is still the same, there may be other parts but I'm not sure about that.

It is still a very good DVD. janus

Hi Janus,

I would like to purchase the Poldark DVD's for my Mother for Mother's Day. It is her favorite series and the VHS tapes that she has are no longer playable. What website did you purchase the DVD's from. Would like to get the complete series. Thanks for your help.

Hello all

I am 'Caroline Penvenen Enys' from the WG Society boards! The Australian set is by far the most complete set and I am not aware of any missing scenes (I have four different versions and have been through them all). The scene you describe where he washes her under the pump was from the book and I have never seen it on screen. As you can see from the scenes at the fair, where he buys her the pasty, he knows well she's a girl.

The seduction scene is different on screen than in the book. In the book she wears his mother's dress - in the series it was the peach coloured dress that he bought her. Again, that is the only 'seduction' scene that was filmed.

I hope this helps. :)

I suspect they're permanently closed. There were 'issues' between some posters and the mods and, although I was an innocent bystander, I have not received a reply from anyone as to when they will reopen.

It's a shame as there were some wonderful, very knowledgeable and interested people on there but I think we've seen the last of them.

Thank you for clearing up the question of the water pump scene. I have the Australian DVDs and was worried that they, too , were edited in some way. I didn't remember the scene from the TV broadcast, but it was a long time ago...and I could not be sure.

I am glad I ordered them from Oz, even though S2 took more than 6 months to arrive :-)
