That Leather Jacket

I always loved that short leather jacket that Ross wore. It seemed to be an 18th Century version of today's "Schott Perfecto" motorcycle jacket--quite befitting of the rebel that was Ross Poldark. Robin's spikey sideburns helped a lot in that image, too.

The leather jacket, a version of which, should have been worn by Aidan Turner, is one of the things I miss in the present Poldark.

This jacket, with the distinct double-breasted zip-up panels, and tall collar, was popularised by Marlon Brando, in The Wild One, and different versions were worn by pioneer Heavy Metal guitarist Link Wray, and, more recently, by current guitar metal legend, Tony Iommi, of Black Sabbath. I believe Tom Cruise, in the final minutes of Interview With a Vampire, as The Vampire Lestat, may have worn a Schott, too.

The pipe is also missing in the new version.
