I used to watch this show weekly. Once I missed most of it but caught the last part, which consisted of the brothers going around a resort and putting towels in a hamper. This lead to a criminal being caught..end of show. This seemed like such a ridiculous conclusion out of context that I stopped watching and started questioning things at the age of 8 or 9...then again I thought the book about Chinese Junk was actual garbage and not a ship...

The first time they steal from a hotel room, they use pillow cases, which was much easier.
They are working under cover for the Hawaiian police to catch the gang that cleaned out their hotel room, near the beginning of the episode. That's why they were stealing, to see if they could get the attention of the gang so they could join them and turn them in. When they use the towels, they're working with the gang. When they used the pillow cases, they were working for the police, from a hotel room set up by the police, with an undercover police couple in it.
It's funny, you said that about the Chinese Junk. When I was a kid I thought it was junk too!!!
