i don't think there are any scenes that have been edited, just some music.
I haven't compared closely but one scene i know which has been cut completely because of the music rights is Cathy Hargreaves and friends dancing in the changing rooms to Boney M's 'Daddy Cool'.
Further to the other reply there were a couple more edits.
*** SPOILERS FOLLOW ***
These were:
1. When Sutcliffe sits on Tucker's chips (when they're trying to put right the vandalism to the play props), he utters a mild swear word. This is replaced by silence.
2. The scenes involving Tucker bringing a pornographic magazine to the outdoor centre have been cut. As I recall from the original broadcast, the magazine's title was visible (Mayfair?) and it ended up being burnt on the camp fire.
I don't think I would be investing in copies of this if the editing is as severe as what you claim. That's pathetic, and leaves folk young and old with the impression that things were actually more libertarian in the '70s and '80s, and that the U.K. is becoming a censorious nanny state.
sharehey I was just wondering where do you buy Grange Hill on dvd?
sharethere are 2 sets available, the first has the first 2 series, second has series 3 and 4 on. HMV are selling all of these first 4 series in a set and its cheaper to get the whole lot there AND the price is likely to drop...my advice is keep an eye on the HMV website, free postage also!!!

That's a fact, not an impression!
Regarding #2, those scenes do exist in the latest DVD release. It is difficult to catch the title of the mag, though you may be correct that it is Mayfair. The mag is a definite and visible prop - it's even referenced in the dialogue.
shareAww thanks for the info guys I might make some purcahses :)
shareYou're at least partly wrong: the scene with the magazine was not cut from the dvd (maybe pieces of it, I don't know): you can see them looking at it on the bus and how it is burned in the fire. Also, in season 4 Doyle is looking in a Mayfair magazine and the cover is still shown.
