To all Grange Hill fans who think a lot about Grange Hill

Please let's try and get back Grange hill back on TV, it's still not too late as it's not even 3 year's yet since it ended!!

It can't be impossible to getit back on TV I think (even if it's not on the BBC)! It has too much history in TV terms to loose I think - i'd like to believe Phil Redmond would let the fan's resurrect it even if he believes he took it as far has he could given everything!

There has to be hope I believe. If only a petition could be organised as I think 5000 is an easy target straight no questions that it could be met easily!

A favourite saying I have is "where there is light, there is hope", if this can be so please GH fans let's try as light still exists.

Not as I want to appear arrogant but if people can avoid saying "Waterloo Road is the new Grange hill" i'd prefer you did'nt ... as this can not last forever I feel and i'm sure it'll not last forever too though both are School based ... neither can fairly be compared on many a level!

I think Grange Hill will return to BBC screens at some point for another re-run. It's been over a decade since the last run, so a new generation, post 2000 would benefit from the repeats, while older audiences who grew up during the 70s/80s and 90s can take a trip down memory lane.

I do and hope this is so yeah, but it's for it to return with new Series' I desire and want to happen more than anything.

As much as I would enjoy to watch a rerun of Grange Hill 1978-2000ish, I'm have to admit I wouldn't be all that interested in a return to the series for the 2010s.

For me, and maybe this is just my age(born in 76) Grange Hill does seem to go rapidly downhill throughout the 2000s with less interesting characters and story lines.

But like I just mentioned above, I was long departed from Grange Hill once it moved into it's final decade, so I'm obviously not speaking for everyone, but I'm fairly certain anyone born before 1985 would probably agree that bringing Grange Hill back for a brand new series is not a good idea.

It did go downhill after returning to Liverpool as there was much less character devlopment-the teachers were superfluous (why Robson left), but the idea behind it is as good as ever. There will always be problems for new generations of kids to tackle, and so it could be successfully revived. However, the BBC have nailed their colours to the mast with the, in my view much inferior, Waterloo Road, and GH cannot return whilst that is on air.

reply

Hi AlxK,
You raise a good point about Robson when it moved to Liverpool yeah - though sorry if I seem pedantic , it never "returned" to Liverrpool, it was always in London ... then Liverpool not Liverpool before!

Waterloo Road is a joke. I only managed one episode of that trash.

I'm currently watching Grange Hill on Youtube and while it's not the best way to view something, it's been an interesting journey back into time. I'm coming to the end of Series 16(1993) with Mick and Barry Timpson, Robyn, Mary, Becky Stevens, Jacko, Ray Justine etc.

I will admit though, I really hated having to watch Maria and Fran along with Natasha, as they seem to be the most unlikable sixth formers ever to grace the corridors of Grange Hill.

I tend to prefer watching Jacko's group and Dennis(Techno) from this series on wards.

Ah yes, sorry, of course it was. I'm just so used to Phil Redmond being linked with Liverpool, that it slipped my mind. Btw talking of PR, him and Stuart Organ never got on, apparently.
