Series 7 - What Happened To Duane??

Just been watching Series 7, and noticed that Duane seems to just disappear after Episode 12, anyone any idea why??

Annoying when they do that with no explanation, they did the same with his friend Tracy.

I did read once that the actor who played Duane had fallen ill and was hastily written out. In 1986 he surfaced in an advert for the yts(youth training scheme) with the late Bobby Robson.

Shame he didn't stay on into the diddy sixth form in Series 8 with Precious, Stewpot and Claire seen as he was an original member of his year group and those three were only brought in really as replacements etc.

He was diagnosed with cancer.
