So, Ponch lives paycheck-to-paycheck?

Maybe he shouldn't have such expensive hobbies!

I remember thinking that his apartment in season 6 was pretty fancy for a beat cop. I remember him renting his furniture when his mother came to visit in season 2, but he had a really nice place, a nice car and a maid in season 6.

In the fist couple of seasons Ponch lived in a trailer park in a small trailer. Then he was moving into an apartment that cost about $250/mth but because of a broken water pipe he was temporarily placed in a better apt that cost almost twice in rent. That is when his mother visited and he had to rent furniture because he didn't have any yet. In the first year he was still a rookie and probably did not get paid much (even in 1980's standards) and as the show progressed his pay would have improved. Have you ever tried living on a Cop's salary? Not easy. I agree though he did have some fancy hobbies. And how many times did he have to repair that car of his? No Jon had a pretty nice place and I loved his truck. But he had been with the Patrol longer.

Yes both you guys are right. I always thought wow he's a chop office living in a RV. Remember the episode when ponch gets a ticket on a date? And yes ponchs mom was coming to visit so he rented nice late 70s early 80s furniture. But no other chips had that problem or none of the new chips rookies either, just the Mexican? I never got that one. Pinch even bought that nice fire bird because in one episode the owner poured gas on it and lit it on fire. Then bought it for $300 just so the owner would not have to give it tobacco report guy. That was a great episode. I really like to watch chips but now I cringe and cry when there are crash scenes because all the classic cars. I saw a Shelby mustang, nice by the way take a jump through a moving ruck then a convert able camero take a front end hit that destroyed it. So many good cars died for the making of chips.
