I was just watching the pilot episode tonight and noticed microphones sticking down from their helmets. It's very obvious on the first highway dialogue scene after roll call. It was shot late in the evening and the shadow on their cheeks is what drew it to my attention. The mics drop down from inside the helmets to their left cheekbones. I don't know if this technique was changed later or if I just never noticed it because they didn't usually film that near dawn/dusk. I'll have to look for it in later episodes.

The microphones are not present on episode 2.

I saw a familiar face in the episode. The bad guy tow truck driver was played by Angelo De Meo, Randolf Mantooth's (Johnny Gage) stunt double and regularly cast ambulance attendant in Emergency!

Pay close attention to the motorcycle/highway scenes the lighting often changed between shots.

With the stunt people for the master shots and then the process trailer for Jon and Ponch dialogue shots it would be either overcast or they'd be back lit.

The other thing is the distance between them, the dialogue scenes between Jon and Ponch they're within arms length of each other.

But the stunt drivers are usually staggered and not parallel for more than a few seconds and at least a half car length between them.

Yes, that's right. All of the dialog scenes have the bikes mounted on a trailer. Both bikes always hit the same bumps at the same time and they don't lean when turning.
