Season Episode Continuity Error

So...

We just started watching one a night as part of our make my wife understand British culture program :).

One thing that puzzled us, was that James seems to hurt his ankle in Season 2, episode one. However, he is limping heavily in the last 2-3 episodes of Season 1.

This could either be (a) original filming continuity error, (b) showing error (c) DVD transfer error... or not an error at all, but real life injury that ended up being explained...

Anyone know the explanation? We were about to curse Netflix for sending us the wrong disk, then found out that they hadnt.

These are great though. Thoroughly recommend them to anyone. Wife says even though a bit slow, they are beautiful and entertaining to watch.

Yes, I noticed that too. I can't imagine that the chronological order of the filming is not the same as the order in which the episodes were shown on tv. The car accident took place during the recording of season 2, so maybe he did hurt his leg twice.

Of course, that could be it. I didn't mean that all the scenes were shot in the right order, but the episodes. But I could be wrong.

It's because Christopher Timothy badly injured his leg (broke it) when filminng (I believe) a car driving scene. Apparently the injury never healed very well and I suppose that once the second series started and the leg wasn't improving particularly well they decided to write it into the storylines rather than leave it unexplained (which wouldn't really be necessary if it would only be noticeable in a couple of episodes). I think he may still walk with a slight limp actually...

The ACGAS documentary clearly states that the car accident happened when they were on hiatus during Season 1 filming although I didn't really notice the limp until season 2.

He is a miracle . . . really.

Didn't they actually consider replacing him because he hurt himself a lot? I think I remember something about that from an interview, but that some of the makers and I think Robert Hardy and Peter Davison wanted for Timothy to keep the part he had to learn a lot of lines whilst he was in hospital...
