Where did Seigfreid move to? and with whom?

Okay - what am I missing here? It's been years since I read the books but am avidly watching the series for the first time. I love it! However, I'm not quite clear where Seigfreid moved to when he left the house (after the war I guess?) and with whom?

He married "Caroline" and they moved into their own house.

Just to clarify -- this was shown in the 1983 Christmas special, not the main series. Caroline is mentioned (and even shown) in the series from time to time but is not a recurring character.
