Hypnosis?

Enjoyed watching this but would have enjoyed it a lot more if I could get my head around what turned those kids nasty. Just what was the staring/hypnosis all about, and what is the relevance of the pre-title war footage? Still good though.

The plot summary here on IMDB says "They soon discover that all the children of the island have been posessed by a mysterious force or madness which they can pass from one to another, and which makes them attack and murder their elders, who can't defend themselves because nobody dares to kill a child..."

I got the movie on DVD recently but I have yet to watch it. I believe though the introduction more or less touches a little on the subject of the title of the film, who can kill a child? Since the movie resolves around the idea that no one will kill the children so if they are the ones possessed they are basically unstopable. The introduction just shows people, or should I say monsters, who are actually willing and capable of doing just that.

Like Hitchcocks THE BIRDS which seems to be a movie very close to WCKAC? there is no real reason given... the news footage might indicate something like a revenge of the innocent for all the suffering caused by adults which will take place after the film has ended.

Wow, lot of questions about the news footage, I thought it was pretty obvious that it just showed how kids suffer through the acts of adults. All the while the children have no power over their destiny, if a country decides to bomb a town what can a child do but die? Really it's the same for adults too, what power do we really have, but the creator just chose to deal with children.

As for the unspoken understanding to start the killing, it never says but why dwell on it so much? Make up your own reason, maybe they were aliens, maybe they were possessed, maybe they were just sick of being smacked in the head? Who cares, not a very important part of the movie.

Hollywood used to create, now they just destroy.
