You could write a good modern sequal to this

THE VAN 2 or THE VAN:30YRS LATER

This movie actually would serve as a great inspiration for a new movie.

plot would go like this:

main charactor (mid 40's in age)is having a mid life crisis(recently divorced), his mother has just passed away at the begining of the film and he is selling off her etate at an auction when he stumbles accross a box full of his old collection of 1970's magazines and see all of the photos of those old tricked out vans from that era. then he remembers his old van and decides to spend his inheriteince money he receives from the auction proceeds to buy another full size van and have it tricked out (trying to recapture his youth)

he builds a brand new Ford Econoline Van into another show van. complete with waterbed, plasma TV (the works) and goes cruisin' again.

This could be a halarious movie of an older fortysomething year old man (balding) who cruises around yelling/flirting at younger chicks. This would make some great comedy, as he tries to fit in with the twentysomethings of the modern generation. - and it wouldn't cost alot of monet to make it.

the van would have to be Ford Econoline this time (they are the only company that still mass produces a full size van)......true GMC still makes one too, but it is a special order item(most GMC dealers dont even have a full size van on thier car lot)

I could appreciate the idea but it would fail unless they got Stewart Goetz to play the part. And bring Dugan back for Christssake!

The thing is that I do not see people today fixing up vans like I did back when I was growing up during the 70's and 80's you know that was cool. I am 35 years old now and can fondly remember my older neighbors always working on their vans.

When I was younger I always dreamed about owning a van where I fixed the bank to pick up chicks but I never did that you know. I really do not think this movie would pass today or even really happen.

If they did remake this they would totally screw up the movie wanting to modernize it. Today we do not see too many people living in vans like we once did.

The thing is that it would lose its meaning from the 70's to today.

There is a possibility that they could make a sequel to this movie but make all of the main characters older. The problem is that would all of the original actors want to come back to do the movie though after so many years since they did it?

Ha Ha Ha >>>what a great concept for a great comedy movie

They should run with that story idea whether if it was a sequel or not.

The idea of a recently divorced, heavy set & ugly red-headed(balding) guy in his mid to late 40's, who tries to relive his 1970's teenage fantasies by buying a new 2008 Ford Econoline Van and fixing it up like those super vans of the late 70's and then he goes around trying to use his van to pick up young girls for sex by offering them pot, pizza and beer....meanwhile the young girls flee from him with great fear .....DUDE! you should be a Hollywood script writer. I think that would be highly contraversal ((but it would be halirious at the same time ...kinda like "American Beauty" on laughing gas

see, that's what I though when I first wrote this tread.

I think it would be halarious. But liberals would freak out.

I could see a scene right now where a new full sized 2008 Ford Ecoline Van pulls into a mall parking lot. It's painted bright Yellow with zig zag stripes, and the bald head man drives up to some teen age girls and offers them a joing for a B.J. and one of the girls points to a police car that right behind him...

how funny

It is not a bad idea but how would it pass in todays generation? I mean some of these young kids do not know some of the movies that I have mentioned in my drama class including who Gene Wilder is. Now that is sad because he is famous for working with Richard Pryor back in the late 70's and during the early 80's. He even played the original Willy Wonka.
