box office hit?

I was wondering if Two-Minute Warning was a hit in the theatres when it first came out. Anybody know if it was successful at the box office?

reply

It wasn't a huge hit but it made money. In it's original run in my area it played for 6 weeks which wasn't bad in those days when you consider it played in probably a few hundred theaters all over the country.

TWO MINUTE WARNING was one of those movies that made tons of money in certain sections of the country. Texas, for instance, it was a huge hit and yes, it did turn a profit.

According to Charlton Heston (in his autobiography): "Two-Minute Warning was actually a pretty good film. Universal was positive it would out-gross Earthquake. It was a flop. We had struck a nerve;the public didn't want anything to do with terror in a Super Bowl."
I don't know if he was correct about it being a flop? The fact that it was substantially reworked for the TV version suggests he was right about people being spooked by the sniper at Super Bowl plot. I haven't seen the TV version but the original is a fine film.
