RA DOW? Was he in Boogie Nights? Does anyone feel sorry for Roger

I thought Roger was was kind of sympathetic. Geri was a bonafided tease, and she did use him. It wasn't Roger's fault what happened happened. Okay, he wasn't the brightest guy in the world.

Also, what happened to RA Dow? Most of the cast, believe it or not were/are seasoned pros of New York Theater when this was made.

Scardino was a veteran of stage, film, and television by the time this was made, and McLean (Sheriff) was in THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE.

But what happened to RA DOW. He had done some New York Theater in the 70''s but disappeared from sight. He looked like the guy who played Julia Moore's ex husband in Boogie Nights as well as the Band Manager/ex lover of Jennifer Jason Leigh in Georgia.

Any help?

I really wish I could shed some light on R.A. Dow. He played good in the role of Roger. He seemed like he would have also made a good villain in something like "Deliverance" or "Mothers Day". He had that menacing look.

As far as feeling sympathy for Roger, I did sort of feel bad for him. I mean, he lived in a small town, where most of the locals probably never leave. He was in love with the "gilrl next door" (Gerri). Remember, he was sort of simple-minded and probably thought he would be able to marry her some day. I'm sure he felt very threatened when Mick arrived in town, and only to be teased by Gerri's instigating sister Alma ("Where's Mich sleeping tonight Ma? In Gerri's room?").

Gerri seemed to be just slightly ahead of everyone else in the town. She apparently got out (of the small town) more often than the others there and had the opportunity to see more, and probably would have moved ahead later in life. I don't think Roger would have had a chance with Gerri, with or without Mick.

You know what? I'm thinking the same thing!! He was the 'simple' boy-next-door that had a crush on the (possible?) 'It' girl of the small town, and she did use him. She shouldn't have been flashing her titties in the window like she did! What does she expect him to do? I also liked how Roger was 'simple' but seemingly sweet and good-hearted (unti he tried to force himself on Gerri in the boat), yet he managed to come back at Alma after she insulted his shirt (which I thought was fine, and didn't resemble graved-digger attire, not that I'm aware of anyway) about her zit; that was awesome and showed that he was naive but not stupid. I personally felt bad for him.....God, he would have been good in Deliverance, Mother's Day, American Gothic...any of those! God Bless R.A. Dow; come back to the big screen, buddy!

Nope, but I can see how R.A. Dow bore a resemblence to Julianne Moore's ex in Boogie Nights (another awesome movie). Her ex was John Doe, the guy who formed and played bass in the punk band 'X' in the 1980's.....he was also the dude in Georgia, another little overlooked gem.....and you know what? I could swear that Jennifer Jason Leigh was in Snowbeast (another made-for-TV classic), in the beginning, where she and her friend asked Bo Svenson for a pic and they were standing next to him. I researched that like the devil, but couldn't find anything on it.

Roger's soft side did surface a little bit, but, just like in real life, that big, green "jelousy monster" always prevails and ruins everything. I did also notice that Gerri was being a bit of a tease when she wanted to borrow Roger's truck. Thats also somewhat realistic (though not of all women):)
