Who was she? She was quite exotically attractive, and looked really out of place behind a lunch counter in a Georgia hick town. She looked more like she should have been dressed in a fur bikini, fighting dinosaurs.
Yes, she did have a little bit of an "Eva Gabor" look to her.
I have the DVD with a commentary. If I'm not mistaking, I believe it was said on the commentary that the waitress was actually played by a local from that area. Locals were used for some of the smaller parts.
nsvage3-1 was right, the waitress was actually a real waitress in the diner where that scene was filmed. Most of the extras and miscellaneous characters were locals and not actors at all. (Some people would argue that the actors in the film were not actors, either.)
Y'know, one time we were out doing a land survey in the middle of nowhere, North Florida. We stopped at this crappy-looking bar-b-q joint with a dirt parking lot, and I swear, four of the hottest girls I had ever seen were working there.
Just an interesting story. After we got over the shock we tried our best to look cool. No dice.
