Based on an actual event....?

The back of the MGM movie VHS says ...

"Based on an actual event that terrorized a small georgia town"

So, what gives?, which part is the actual event, the storm? I have yet to find a story like this that "actually" happend. I am aware that movies use this gimmick to sell a movie, but usually it is based on some sorta true fact , example being Texas chainsaw massacre, although leatherface and his clan and that story never happend, it was loosely based on Ed Gien, which was real, and just as horrifying ... So in some small Georgia town a big storm happen and made worms go nuts and start bitting people? Anyone have any knowledge to shed on this?

The reason you can't find anything on it is that the story was covered up by the Government who didn't want people to be so afraid of worms that the entire bait and tackle industry would collapse and puts thousands out of work. The story of that very cover up is now being developed for a major motion picture!

isn't that film going to be called "Thank you for fishing"?

It's actually based on a love story. Much like Forrest Gump, a mentally challenged individual country bumpkin tries to win the heart of a local girl but gets beat out by a guy from the city. The worms were just added for effect.
