Song

I revisited the movie recently for a fun evening with some friends, and afterwards, we actually watched the credits until the very end because we were laughing at the song (which is oddly ethereal) That night, I had that song stuck in my head and it kept me up for a while. If that wasn't bad enough, it continued to pop into my head off and on throughout the week, as it seems forever lodged in my mind! It's almost laughable, but I actually remembered many of the lyrics and now I sing it aloud, thinking it would somehow help, but it only made it worse.

Anyone else ever get this song stuck in their head that can share this pain?!

Yes-

Just reading your post, now its stuck in my head again!

"How can I hold you longer...........

Actually, this song has been discussed before.

Originally, it was thought that the song was just tacked on at the last minute, without thought.

But, upon further investigation.....

This song is played on a radio earlier in the movie.

Plus, and more importantly, the tune of the song can be heard in parts of the actuall film score! Its like, somehow, this song is a central theme of the film. And yet, it doesn't seem to relate at all (its a love song).

I would LOVE to know the story behind this.

Oh well, I still think SQUIRM is a good horror/sci-fi/bug flick, and definately stands above the other movies of this type that were coming out in the 70's.

Yes, but not this particular movie song...it happened to me with the (begining) credit song for the original movie 'The Blob'. Try THAT one for size! Its a laughable jingle which stays with you! Not kidding!

"The Blob" had a very catchy tune.
A bit too catchy and enjoyable for a teen horror movie in that era. Just imagine if Burt Bacharach wrote the opening theme tune for the "Halloween" or "Friday the 13th" series of movies.

Beware of the Blob!

Burt Bacharach – The Blob Lyrics
Beware of the blob, it creeps
And leaps and glides and slides
Across the floor
Right through the door
And all around the wall
A splotch, a blotch
Be careful of the blob

(Repeats 3x)
