'Slipper and the Rose' coffee table book ???
I am a 50+ year-old romantic who can't seem to get enough of every aspect of this movie. This is as close to a perfect story-fantasy experience as I expect I will ever see. Everyone associated with it should be proud. So how come I didn't see it here in the states until about 2000 A.D.? Were our own Yankee film distributors that threatened by it? Worse still, this picture was being developed and filmed in 1974-75. I was on a U.S. submarine that visited the UK twice during that time. That little "fox", Gemma Craven, was probably within an hour's drive of where I was, and I never knew it. Also just learned that I am exactly "one day" older than she is. What's her status these days, anyone know?
Anyway, if I were David Frost, the Sherman Brothers, Pinewood Studios, and any-
one else associated with this work-of-art, I would put together a coffee-table sized hardback book containing pictures, interviews with principal castmembers,
story development, shooting schedules and locations... in short everything a fanatical fan like myself would want. I'm writing this in September 2005. They were probably wrapping up shooting the film exactly thirty years ago. The 30 year anniversary of its premier will be next spring. Is it too late to get it out by then Sir David? Surely the folks at BBC News would let you put your executive-producer hat back on for this worthy project! I'll make a prediction for you. I think "Cindy and her Slipper" will turn out to be a bigger "sleeper" than "It's a Wonderful Life". I just mailed five Special Edition DVDs out as early Christmas presents. They won't be the last ones I send either!
