Extra footage on DVD?

Hello, Slipper fans! Thanks to the kindness of another fan some years ago, I have a VHS copy. He taped it off the laserdisc he had, which he purchased back in the 70s.

I'm wondering, for those of you who have the DVD, what extra scenes are included that weren't in the version seen on TV? I am pretty sure my VHS copy does not contain those scenes.

I'm just curious because since there are few copies of the DVD for sale, I'd like to know if it is worth buying it.

THANKS!

The DVD is definitely worth tracking down, and you're bound to get it at a good price despite the fact that it has been out-of-print for a few months now.

The old television print cuts out around 30 minutes, very crucial to the plot of the overall story.

Thank you, mkolln. I think you've convinced me to take the plunge and get it.

i have the Dvd and it has no extra footage its only the film. u can buy it off amazon.co.uk...you can get dvds v cheap from there

There may be extra footage depending on where the person is. The film was shorter in the US than it was in the UK. The dvd is the UK cut. In the main 2 complete songs were cut "what has love got to do with getting married" and "i cant foget the melody" were both removed. Also they were cut from the us vinyl soundtrack album but included on the uk. The cd has both intact.

and "i cant foget the melody"

Really? I *love* that song...that sucks that they cut it out...I'm so glad we had the full cut from the start over here. :\

they also cut out Prince Edward's prayer towards the end of the movie, when he thought he was marrying the other girl.

reply

Oh, that's a lovely scene.

I'm rather surprised they cut all that out in the UK considering it's a UK based film. I bought my copy at Suncoast when I worked there at the time and they have the extra footage, the songs and everything from start to finish.

I actually have the DVD from Image and it *does* contain extra footage. They have a behind the scenes glimpse and a video interview from the sherman brothers.

I think you had better reread my post. I said it was cut in the US not in the UK.

reply

That's weird that they gave the US the original UK version and the UK has the US version. The Region 1 DVD and VHS has the extended version. All of the scenes that were cut in the intial US release are intergrated into the movie, not featured in seperate footage like most DVD do.

reply

No the UK version has NEVER been cut it was shortened in the US in theatres.
