What I liked about this film

Not John Wayne. Not that it is a Western. The REAL story is how when someone is down and out, dying and vulnerable the human vultures, hyenas, and jackals will gather to pick off what they can before the person is even dead. Profiting from someone's death must be one of the lowest of the low behaviors.

Interesting point. I liked how J B Books didn't care so much with people he personally liked: John Carradine's undertaker was open and honest, and paid up front. He disliked deceit (his old love, the journalist, etc).
