What was his last line of dialog?

John Wayne's final line of dialog in this film was the final line of his great career. I'm wondering what it was.

He was ordering a drink and said something like: "Today's my birthday. Give me the best in the house." Correct me if I'm wrong!

Actually, when he was served, he says, "Thank you."
I've always thought that ironic, as he NEVER thanks anyone in his films.

"So what else is on your mind besides 100 proof women, 90 proof whiskey, and 14 karat gold?"

reply

Not true. Watch "In Harm's Way." In the C-47 during the invasion of Gava Butu, he asks the co-pilot for a pencil. When given it, he quite clearly says "Thank you." Same when Mac McConnell congratulates him on his promotion to Rear Admiral (lower half.)

Just one quick example. Watch his films. You'll see he says it almost any time someone proffers a courtesy.

I stand corrected.

I'm pretty sure he thanks Geraldine Page for dinner in "Hondo".

He says thank you a number of times, both serious and comic in The Quiet Man

It is not our abilities that show who we truly are...it is our choices

In "The Searchers", just before the Indians charge across the river, Ward Bond asks John Wayne what will likely happen next. Wayne, incredulous, asks "Are you asking my opinion?" Bond replies "I am!" Wayne says "Thank you!" then adds something like "Yep, they'll be right in your lap in a minute, sonny!"
