Some films REALLY seem dated 40 years after they come out...

This isn't one of them. This film seems more powerful now than it (probably) did when it first came out.

It was ahead of it's time as Orwell's 1984.

It's even more relevant now than it was 40 years ago, it seems almost prophetic.

This film TOTALLY called it like it is and predicted our present predicament.

Absolutely. I would love to know how much people back then thought some of it was a little farcical or over the top. Because with the possible exception of the gang that is essentially sent on assignment to rob banks for ratings, it has all pretty much happened in the intervening years.
