Did they have walkmans in 1976?
What was that device that the kid librarian put over his ears right before it killed him? I'm sorry , but I didn't think walkmans were around at that time. but was that perhaps an early one?

To answer your question, they didn't have Walkmans until 1979. Even though that was a hearing aid in the movie, it actually looked like the devices people would use to listen to a portable radio with one earpiece. They also had large headsets with batteries for listening to the radio, very cumbersome and intrusive but they got the job done.
