dvd?

Is there a DVD of this available anywhere? I really want to see it.

A Region 1 DVD loaded with a wealth of special features is long overdue for this 70's drive-in exploitation masterpiece. Anchor Bay, Blue Underground and Shriekshow are my three ideal choices for a Special Edition DVD of this film.

I just attended a screening where the director was present, and he said the DVD would be out early next year. Rene Daalder was really embarrassed by the original soundtrack of the film, with that sappy "Crossroads of Your Life" song, and he said the DVD release will include the music he originally wanted, rocking tunes like Blue Oyster Cult's "This Ain't the Summer of Love." Should be well worth the wait!

Yeah this isn't happening. Renee Daalder doesn't own the film, and he tried to sell his "cut" with all-new music and deleting footage. And do you really think that either Daalder or Subversive are going to pay for the rights to new songs?? Complete bull. A legit release won't be happening anytime soon.

I'd settle for VHS. I've got to see this classic again

It has been reported that Cult Pics is going to release this movie. It's on the Fangoria chopping list website.

Nope, this was canceled as well, when the legitimate rights holder found out about it. Repeat: Daalder doesn't own the film!!!

Blast it! Will the thinking man's exploitation film ever make it to DVD?

I just bought the UK DVD on ebay for just $6, including shipping!

It's region-free, so region coding won't be a problem.
It is PAL, so NTSC-only DVD players won't play it, but computers can play PAL and NTSC discs. I definitely think that $6 for a DVD that I'll have to watch on my computer is a MUCH better deal than upwards of $50 for a used VHS.

This movie is not nearly as difficult to find as it seems at first glance.
I would recommend buying a copy of the UK disc (make sure it's a region-free and not region-2 release, though, unless you have an all-region DVD player)- it's pretty cheap, they're easy to find on ebay, and having to watch it on your computer isn't that big of an inconvenience (if you have a player that can handle PAL discs, then even that isn't an issue). Plus, this is actually a legal way to get the film- no need to mess with bootleggers!

Definitely the best option until an American DVD comes out.
