Similar movies

Hey,
Could someone recommend me similar movies to Logan's Run?
I'd like something in the visual style and mood... and nothing that dark or moody, rather more or on the light and trippy side than too serious. I've already seen Silent Running and Barbarella.
Thanks!

I suspect that several of those won't pass the OP's "nothing that dark or moody" test.

Yes, true. Although it's hard to see how LR could be described as not dark.

I said "THAT dark" :P

But yeah, Logan's Run has it "dark side" too.. I guess I was referring more to "less serious" and more psychedelic movies, meaning that I'm not looking for some really gritty post-apocalyptic stuff. something more of a colourful adventure, you know?

also, I've seen (and loved) most of the movies Huskie_Jon suggested :)

From that list (and ignoring the few movies on it that I haven't seen), Rollerball probably comes closest.

It has a comparable level of 70s-ness about it. Plus the whole premise of living in a futuristic, quasi-totalitarian society where your path in life is pretty much (pre-)determined by the "government".

What it doesn't have is a naked Jenny Agutter, a silly silver robot crying "my birds!!" or Peter Ustinov as a male cat-lady. OTOH, it does have James Caan, the BMW-building and more violence.. ;)

This is totally subjective of course, but to me those two movies give off a pretty similar vibe.

Not from the same era though.

There was another movie called The Island in 1980. It was based on a book by Peter Benchley (Jaws, The Deep) about a colony of pirates in the Carribean who managed to survive until modern times.
