I really don't care if Jessica is that much younger than Logan, but I just wondering how old she's actually supposed to be. She's green and tells Logan she's a "6" (not just her classification) does this mean she's 16 or 22? Since she says she's going to go Red next year I thought 22. But... Logan says that he is also a 6 (red 6) and that he is 26. Help! I'm confused! "Good times, noodle salad"
I may be wrong, but I didn't think the numbers corresponded to their age, but to their lineage. Logan was the sixth Logan. The clothing color was supposed to be an indication of their gae, too.
From the dialogue in Cathedral between Logan and Billy, we know that the change from yellow to green happens at 16. When Jessica says she's 6, I would imagine that means she's in her 6th year of being green, making her 21. I believe she said that she goes red in a year, so red would be 22-30. That does leave a small discrepancy, since red 1 would be 22 and red 6 would be 27.
I think jcohan is right. I just saw this again a few days ago and there are a few times that they mention the numbers and colors as representing age. Like he said, in Cathedral, Jessica mentions she's a 6 and that she'll go red in a year. She also asks the little girl, "When do you go green?"
In the book, the maximum age was 21 years old to the day, and the color of your palm crystal correlated to your age:
Yellow (age 0-6), then Blue (age 7-13), then Red (age 14-20), then blinks Red and Black on Lastday, and finally turns Black at 21.
So the colors correlate to your age range, and have no numerical tie to your name.
The age was changed to 30 in the movie version, but the rest of the correlation remained the same.
Which again, is why Logan 5 who thought the baby in the nursery might be his, says "it's not everyday you get to see a newborn Sandman", and thus was calling him Logan 6.
Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?
Well lisp would only become onomatopoeic, if a person with a lisp, pronounced the word....unlike true onomatopoeic words like pow or bang or yes, spit.

It sounds to me as if there is a "zero year", and it goes up to 7. Jessica is therefore 22. She goes to Red 0 on her 23rd birthday. Then Red 7 lands her right on her 30th birthday and Carousel.

At first i thought being a six meant 6, 12, 18. Factors of six. But, it can also mean 6, 16, 26. So she is either 16 or 18. Probably 18. Since she " goes red next year"
HowYa's right. Logan 5 is named so because there were 4 other citizens named Logan and the baby is Logan 6 because he is the 6th to be given that name. The number has nothing to do with their ages.
That is how I remember interpreting the movie as well. I never thought the name number had anything to do with age. But I'll watch it again and check. I saw it in the theater when it came out but have a cy now.
I agree, they do use numbers like that at the beginning of the film when Logan-5 is going to see his son Logan-6.
But it seems to be used differently later on, the way Logan uses it in his apartment with Jessica implies it's age-related (Logan: "Are you a five or a six?" Jessica: "Six: I go green next year"). It could be a continuity error.
