I doubt a small Quebec town could get enough kids to fill out a football team. Hockey would have been the obvious sport for a Quebec small town in the 1970s.
It might have been filmed in Canada but is supposed to take place in Maine.

shareI think that's erroneous. Everything else I'm seeing says it was filmed in Canada. A big reason is that they wanted to take advantage of tax incentives.
They were actually filming in Canada but trying to make it look like the US, not the other way around, so all the signs they are in America like American money aren't a mistake.
Like a said, whoever wrote that short summary on Metacritic mixed up where the movie was filmed and where it's actually taking place.

Officer Miglioriti's car had Wells Harbor, Maine on it, too. While a lot of the exteriors were shot in CA, many were also done in Southern Maine. I even walked the same path (Marginal Way) that they tossed Hallet's keys into the ocean.
