Hi, watched this film, only ever seen it in bits but watched all of it to day, brilliant!!!

Does anyone know what the song is at the end when the boat sails?? or where i can find out what it is??

Hi,

I've liked that song ever since I saw the film at the cinema as a boy. I think I remember hearing that a single had been released at the time, but I've never been able to find that, or a download, anywhere I'm afraid.

I can give you a little info though - perhaps you will have better luck.

The song was written specifically for the film and was called "Remember When". It was written by the film's composer, Mike Hugg (from the group Manfred Mann), with lyrics by one of its writers, Ian La Frenais, who had also written the TV series theme together. That was credited to "Highly Likely" and it ran in my mind that the film theme was as well, but there is no credit to that effect on the DVD, so my memory may simply be confusing the two.

Sorry I can't help more, but that may give you something to go on. I suspect though that the only way to get it might be for someone more technically savvy than me to rip it from the DVD. I don't think it is on Limewire - I'd be very careful and check the file size if you try, as any hits are likely to be false.

thanks for that, i searched on limewire but cant find it, ive searched all sorts of combinations but still cant find it.

I emailed Mike Huggs management about it, after a few days they replied saying that mike said that the song was only ever recorded on the soundtrack, not on any album anywhere and i guess you cant buy the soundtrack like you can with modern films.

Ive got the film on dvd, so il try and get someone to burn it to disc or something (way beyond my capabilities!!)

If i get anywhere il let you know and if you get anything then please let me know

Will do. Writing to the management was a good idea - way more initiative than I would have thought of.

I think lifting it from the DVD is probably the only hope. But it is a nice song, and if its the only way to get it, hopefully no-one will mind too much. Likewise its beyond me too, but we learn new things every day I suppose, and I have at least one friend who is pretty computer savvy, so maybe one of us will have success eventually.

I'll PM you my email for you to file away, and you can return yours if you like. IMDb deletes messages eventually, and sometimes unpredictably I think, so having a contact won't hurt. Its probably being optimistic, but two heads are better than one so you never know!

Hello, I know I am five years behind this thread but I have searched far and wide for the song 'Remember When.' It is a favourite of mine and my Dad's so would love to get a copy of it for him somehow.

This is a really long shot, but I don't suppose you still know where I could find this??

Until I read this thread I was always under the impression that the man responsible for The Wombles (Mike Batt) had written the music for The Likely Lads, including the iconic WHTTLL theme. I'm so glad it's actually somebody from Manfred Mann - ie somebody cool!

Grambax has kindly sent me an MP3 of the film's theme music - it's great! I'm sure if you ask him nicely he'll oblige you too :)
