Irving Thalberg Connection

While I see some points of his life lifted into this, it is not the film about Thalberg I had hoped it would be. No wonder Norma Shearer was not supportive of this effort. A film based on the true story of Thalberg, Mayer, Loew and Schenk would have been much better, I know FSF only loosely based this book on him but he had attended events in Thalberg's home and could have used none of him or all of him to make the story better.

Thalberg and Shearer were friendly with Fitzgerald in the 30s when Fitzgerald was working in Hollywood. He had tremendous respect for Thalberg.
