Communists and Fairies
There were a couple of scenes of the studio execs complaining about Communists and fairies. Was that in the novel, or was it just part of the film?
Knowing Elia Kazan's infamous history of testimony before the Congressional House Un-American Activities Committee, these scenes that seem to have been meant to have been humorous are just painfully awkward to watch.
