How can a film (based on a book by one of America's most revered writers!) have become so forgotten with this cast. It's unbelievable really. It might not be a masterpiece but the reviews I've read of it aren't bad. Surely it needs to be re-discovered?
shareIt was never lost .... whilst other so called De Niro fans harp on about Raging Bull and Taxi Driver their are some of us who know about Novocento, King of Comedy and The Last Tycoon. So shhhhhh, lets keep it a nice secret amongst us ;-)

I agree with you, but it's probably a little late for it to be rediscovered/reappreciated. Perhaps the studio didn't get behind it in promoting it at the time, as it could only realistically be described as a commercial flop, with the critics perhaps lukewarm collectively in their responses.🐭
