Jack meets Bob.

I was just thinking about Jack. Did anyone here realize that he has co-starred and had scenes with another of the legendary Hollywood actors working today who is hardly ever associated with Jack: De Niro. The two appeared in 'The Last Tycoon' and their scenes together are hilarious. It's funny, because that meeting was one of the main reasons I watched the movie. Then they meet and their confrontation is so awkward. They have no idea what to say to each other, almost as if the actors were meeting themselves. This is probably the best part of the movie, but it is worth viewing for that alone. Then they play ping pong. I don't know why this scene isn't more legendary, to be honest. It really should be.

Yeah I was just going through old DeNiro movies and found this one. I've never heard of it, but with DeNiro and Nicholson, who are two of my favorite actors, I will definitely check this out. Even for that one scene.

Really? You're one of the few people who would think so. The ending is too ambiguous. I usually like ambiguous endings, but in this case, it actually felt like an unfinished book. There were only a few scenes that depicted Monroe's lovestricken and tragic state, not at all enough to make any cohesive thesis on the film.

I myself would recommend the film solely for the one scene of Jack and Bob together.

Really, I agree with you! Jack Nicholson and Robert De Niro!

There really were some outstanding actors in this film..... Ray Miland, Dana Andrews, Robert Mitchum, Tony Curtis.....Angelica Houston.... I think some of these actors must have died soon after this film? Dana Andrews and Ray Miland?

They really were quite old, but wonderful wonderful actors, especially Miland.

It's interesting - there's this big meeting scene, and the one in Heat where Pacino meets DeNiro, and the scenes between Beatty and Nicholson in Reds, and then the great campy scenes between Pacino and Beatty in Dick Tracy. We come full circle.

it's a good one. no doubt.

Watch Jack. He produces that characteristic sly grin, as if he recognizes the absurdity of the situation of them both being fairly well tongue-tied, in a scene where fans would be expecting acting fireworks.🐭
