Why the Sh!tty DVD Cover Art?

I read about the ad campaign for this movie and found out there were MULTIPLE poster art creations for this film, why then when it gets released on DVD it gets that crummy photoshop job.

Avoid the World Trade Center cover art maybe?

I think they should have used the artwork that went with the film release, regardless if it shows the World Trade Centre. Can't write the WTC out of history.

On of these could have been cool.

Unless there is ownership issues for certain posters.

It might be that no one wanted to put the time and effort out for this particular title, due to a not entirely deserved reputation as a "bad movie". It's the least good version of KING KONG, but it's miles ahead of it's sequel and it's preferable to the 1998 GODZILLA.

It's had two different covers for the region 1 DVD. The first one had the original movie poster artwork:

That release also had a one sheet insert inside the DVD case, with the movie art on one side, and chapter list on the other.

I'm assuming you're talking about this artwork for the newer version:

Yeah, its that second one...terrible. I really wish I could track down a copy with the original art.

Sadly, the cover art is a bad replica of the original magnificent John Berkey work.

No justice here.
