Andy Serkis

He was around 11 when this was made so a bit too young to put the giant gorilla suit on - pity as he would have brought more realism to the great Kong.

Some of the effects are fine - especially the subway train attack - but Kong just doesn't move properly and some of the blue screen techniques of the day are ropey at times.

Early CGI was around but not remotely good enough - and early example was the 3D hand featured in Future World.

Also the climatic battle on one of the twin towers wasn't very well done and poorly edited. The film's posters depicts the battle taking place in daylight with fighter jets being involved - but they are nowhere to be seen. However it is still very emotional.

Overall it's not a bad movie - has its moments.

The better CGI gets, the more it isn't good enough.

I liked what Andy Serkis did in Kong '05, but I wouldn't want this Kong to change. Rick Baker played him perfectly. In my mind, Kong is a "gorilla-monster" and not just a giant gorilla like the PJ version portrayed him to be. If that makes sense.
