Great Audio Editing

As I re-watch the movie I can tell that Sam Peckinpah really cared about the movie and tried his best to make the movie come to life. Given the technology of the 1970's the video was very expensive and grievously lacking as compared to today. I am not a film student so I cannot tell you why viewing 1970's movies always look so grainy but all of them do.

However, when I watch the movie, audio technology was basically as good as it was today and I noticed how much care was taken to super impose sounds while the actors were speaking to make it feel like you were on the Russian front. The sound of distant artillery or the sound of trucks or the sound of radios is frequently heard in the back round.

Also, in the final scene 'Demarcation' the use of sound is nothing short of brilliant. I believe that Sam Peckinpah did his very best given the technology of the day. His visual effects were brilliant as well. I am only commenting on the medium that recorded his efforts.
