Personally, I thought it was awful

I thought that the acting was largely risible. And there's something very sterile and unengaging about the whole feel of it.

And the awfulosity starts right from the very first snippet of dialog:

What was that? Sounded like a gun. C'mon, let's go to bed.

The timing and delivery are unintentionally hilarious.

I think most of the major acting, as in the major characters, is done well. It's the bit characters like the opening. Keep in mind it is a made for tv movie made in the mid 70's and the talent pool for bit characters (especially older people) wasn't that great.

I really enjoy this movie a lot. It's one of my favorites of all time. I would've liked if they showed more of what life was like on the ranch and being part of the Manson family, but I loved it anyways. It made me feel like I was really there experiencing the trial and captured the media frenzy/action packed nature of the trial quite perfectly. The acting was very good. Steve Railsback was perfectly cast in the role and it was hard to tell whether it was really footage of Charles Manson or somebody portraying him at times. Marilyn Burns was a joy to see. She is one of my favorites because of films like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Eaten Alive, and Kiss Daddy Goodbye. I think Nancy Wolfe was good as Susan Atkins too and seemed genuinely evil. I don't see why you didn't like the film. I love it.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.
