Street name change

I was re-watching this and I swear that I heard them change the name of the street that Sharon lived on. There is a scene when the Labiancas are driving back home from the lake and are listening to the radio. Maybe I am mistaken but I swear the reporter does not say Cielo Drive but a completely different name.

Has anyone noticed this? Was this done to detract visitors to Cielo? I understand why they changed some people's names but streets?

reply

They said Alecian Drive, I believe.

Yes. I guess the network had demands before the movie was made.

reply

They said Elysian Drive. It is the area where Dodger Stadium is located. I am unsure as to why they changed it.

reply

That's what I thought I heard. At least I wasn't hearing things. Did they do this with the LaBianca house as well? I cannot remember if they even mention it. I know Family member names were changed, and I can see the reasons for some of them. I often wonder why all the defense lawyers names were changed as well. Was it maybe to avoid them from not getting work? it's always odd when a book has the real names and a dramatization doesn't.

reply

I have no idea why the names were changed, but I was living in Los Angels at the time, and I do know they did film at the La Bianca area and house. Maybe they changed the names of the attorneys to alleviate an prejudice. I do not know, but that was the name of the street they used for Sharon Elysian Drive. No, I do not remember hearing an address for the La Bianca's.

ah well, usually when i watch this movie, i have all those quotes in my head for days....

"...The DA from LA..."

Nancy Wolfe and Steve Railsback were unbelievable in this film. I remember I found Nancy Wolfe amazing as a teen watching her spew out Susan Atkins. With the line I quoted above, she was so incredulous that he wouldn't die....LOL.

Nancy is an awesome actress. Did you see her in The Ordeal of Patty Hearst? She played Lucy who was based on Kathy Soliah. She gave another great performance.

reply

Unfortunately, this is the only movie I've ever seen her in. She was so good.

OK, check her in The Ordeal Of Patty Hearst 1979, starring Dennis Weaver. It is on youtube. Her voice is huskier, raspier, maybe a cigarette smoker? I have always liked her as well. She was awesome in Helter Skelter. She honestly did not get Susan's mannerisms down exactly right, and the voice was off, but she was excellent and brilliant in Helter Skelter.

Danny DeCarlo's name was used. He was the one that was "flappin' to the Fuzz." Bruce Davis was changed to Cisco Budge, Christopher Jesus (ZERO) was changed to Boots. almost all the girls that weren't on trial (meaning Susan, Patricia and Leslie) were changed. From what I remember Cathrine Share was used as her real name or maybe they just said Gypsy. Kitty had a different last name, something very close but just slightly different. Mary Bruner was used when Danny was being interviewed but her name changed when she was on the street corner talking to Vincent. Squeaky and Sandra had different names. I think that was due to legal issues they were having at the time.
some people were just gone from the story. Aaron remained on the case through out the complete trial in the movie. Which was wrong.
