Other Redneck classics

Hey there, I have started up a thread on the White Lightning message board for folks to post their favorite southern fried redneck classic movies. We all have to stick together to keep these babies in the public conscience.
So head on over there and let us all know where to get out next fix, now that liquor is legal just about everywhere.

How about Thunder and Lightning with David Carradine?

reply

Walking Tall. How about those Billy Jack movies?

reply

The original Walking Tall with Joe Don Baker is really good and a true story to boot. I haven't seen the remake but I have my doubts. Joe Don actually kinda looked like Buford Pusser (although even Baker wasn't as big as the real Buford Pusser). The Rock just isn't kind of guy rural America expects to see keeping its foothills and gulleys clean of gambling rings and tractor thieves.

I never saw the Billy Jack movies, are they any good?

reply

They are if you are a redneck.

reply

Well put.

reply

Well, I'm not a redneck (at least I hope I'm not), but I love those films. "Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw" is another good one, as are the Ron Howard films like "Eat My Dust" and "Grand Theft Auto."

reply

What's wrong with being a redneck? You got something against white people who work out in the heat thereby getting a red neck?

reply

There's nothing wrong whatsoever with white people working out in the sun, but wearing sunblock and protective clothing is preferable to melanoma, which is the most dangerous form of skin cancer, destroys families and drains our health care system.

reply

Zombie thread resurrection time (LOL). The reason they were called "rednecks" is because back in the old days farmers would wear red hankerchiefs around their necks....The sweat would make the red dye stain their necks and give them a red appearence.
