It seems somehow appropriate that Hitchcock ended his career with a wink to camera (courtesy of Barbara Harris). A nice touch to close out his patchy but reasonably pleasing swan song.

shareIt was a great way to close out the movie and...though he swore he would make ANOTHER movie...he didn't. So the wink closed out Hitchocck's entire career.
There is a plot reason for that wink, by the way. George says to Blanche "you really ARE psychic." Her wink is telling us "no I'm not." The movie poster said "you must see this movie twice" and if you saw it twice, you learned how Blanche knew that diamond was in the chandelier.
