Lost Footage

Is it possible that there is footage of the scenes with Roy Thinnes out there , somewhere ?

reply

Could be in the vaults somewhere.
It took 25 years for the Eric Stoltz Back To The Future footage to surface.

According to William Devane, who replaced Thinnes as Arthur Adamson, there is actually a shot of Thinnes as Adamson IN THE FINISHED FILM.

But it is on Thinnes' back as he and Black drag the bishop out of Grace Cathedral.

Some footage may well be "in the vault," but they've already done a Family Plot DVD documentary and it wasn't shown. Maybe the footage(extensive, I've read) of Thines as Adamson simply WON'T be released.

What we got instead is one photo(here at imdb) of the "Family Plot" cast and Hitchcock with Thinnes in the picture, and one other photo(imdb? elsewhere?) of Thinnes and Karen Black in the black limo together.

Irony: a few years after "Family Plot," the "two Arthur Adamsons" worked together -- William Devane and Roy Thinnes appeared in the TV mini-series remake of "From Here to Eternity," with Devance in the Lancaster hero part and Thinnes in the lesser part(played by Philip Ober in the original) of the boxing-happy comannder who gives Prewitt(Steve Railsback in for Monty Clift) the silent treatment.

Devane and Thinnes actually shared a few scenes together. I wonder if it was uncomfortable for them.
